Headlight / Motor
Controller with Fog / Driving light control.
Part # HMC-03
Price - $190.00 USD
Important to Note
Novice headlight "Relay Kits" do not
stop the high motor current flowing
through the small limit switches
mounted at the headlight drive
mechanism. 20 amps peak and 10
amps continuous must be supported
during headlight motor activation. The
limit switches are a weak link and
should have been addressed.
The proper use of relays require arc
suppression devices when used with
motors, this was not done in the novice
relay kits.
>Sequences lift motor current and headlight current, allowing only
one “ON” at a time. This reduces the operating current to half which
accommodates the factory wire size.
> Removes high current from the headlight switch on console, by
electronically controlling the headlights, parking lights and side marker
lights, this preserves the headlight switch life.
> Removes high current from the headlight high / low beam switch on
the steering column by electronically controlling the headlight low and
high beams, this preserves the high / low beam switch life.
> Removes high current from the headlight mechanism LIMIT
switches, this preserves the limit switch life. An unique feature of the
Pantera Electronics Headlight / Motor Controller.
> On-board electrical arc suppression device for motor brushes, this
extends motor life and reduces electrical noise.
> To improve HID headlight operation there is an on-board setting to
change the function of the low / high beam switch. HID headlights
have a warm-up delay before full brightness is attained, this causes a
period of low light level when switching from high to low beam. To
compensate for this, the function of the high / low beam switch can be
altered to keep the low beam headlights ON after switching to the high
beam headlights.
> Keep originality by transparent operation through factory Pantera
switch and hidden installation.
> On-board LED diagnostic indicators for ease of installation.
Modern Technology
The Headlight / Motor Controller solves the problem of inconsistent headlight motor operation without adding
out-dated relays and excessive wiring. The HMC sequences the motor current and headlight current by
activating the motor up, then activate the headlights, and the reverse sequence, headlights off, then activating
the motor down. This sequence reduces the operational current by 50% and provides reliable motor operation
without adding large wires. With the 50% reduction in total current, an increase in lift motor speed can be
realized due to higher available voltage. The HMC is designed for 1971 through 1974 Panteras, to control all
external lighting as well as the headlight motor. The factory relay wires can be connected directly to the HMC
without modification only 2 wires are added to the headlight switch and 3 wires to the fuse panel. None of the
factory wiring needs to be cut, only disconnected, re-routed and connected to the HMC. The HMC does not
allow the lights to be on if the ignition key is in the off position, stopping accidental battery discharge by leaving
the lights “ON”.
The Pantera Electronics Headlight/Motor Controller is compatible with
AmeriSport Industries, Pantera Cat Eye Quad Light Kit.
